A Simple, Transparent Process
Step 1 - Reach Out
Send us your information on the Contact page, or just call. If you've received a pooling notice, division order, or lease offer, have it handy — it helps us evaluate your interest faster. No documents? No problem. A county and a rough legal description is enough to get started.
Step 3 - Review the Agreement
If you like the offer, we send a straightforward Purchase and Sale Agreement. We encourage you to review it carefully and ask us questions. The price in the agreement is the price you get paid — period.
Step 2 - We Evaluate & Make an Offer
We research your minerals — the county records, current production, nearby drilling activity, and operator plans — and make you a written offer, usually within 2–3 business days. We'll walk you through exactly how we arrived at the number. No obligation, and no pressure to decide on the spot.
Step 4 - Due Diligence & Payment
We handle the title verification, any/all curative and filing costs at our expense. Once title is confirmed, you're paid in full by check / wire transfer, typically within 10-30 days of signing. You never pay us a fee, commission, or closing cost.
WHY MINERAL OWNERS CHOOSE BLUESTEM
NO Fees, Ever
1
We cover all title work, document preparation, curative costs and closing costs. The offer you accept is the amount you receive.
The Price Doesn't Change
2
A common complaint we hear from Mineral Owners is that Companies cut/change the price after the agreement is signed. We do our homework and may request check stubs or other documents up front. Why? Because our written offer is our final offer.
Straight Answers
3
Not sure if selling is right for you? We'll tell you honestly what your options are — including when holding onto your minerals might be the better move.
WE CLOSE FAST
4
A lot of companies sign agreements with 30-45 day terms and won’t close until they have to, there’s no point in dragging out the process, we close as soon as we’ve finished due diligence.
A BUSINESS BUILT ON TRANSPARENCY
Bluestem Energy is a family-owned and operated mineral acquisition company based in Oklahoma. We founded Bluestem in 2021 because we saw an opportunity to put our own spin on a process that seemed needlessly complicated and to help owners make decisions they can be proud of.
Our approach is different: we explain how we value your minerals, we put our offer in writing, and we honor it. Since 2021, we've been fortunate to work with mineral owners across the Lower 48, with our roots and primary focus right here in Oklahoma and Texas.
When you contact Bluestem, you’re not talking to a call center or automated system, you’re talking to Kyle Peters, the owner - the same person who evaluates your minerals, makes your offer, and sees your deal through to closing.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
It depends on your situation. Selling can make sense if you want a lump sum instead of unpredictable royalty checks, if you're managing an inherited interest split among many family members, if you're simplifying an estate, or if you'd rather invest the money elsewhere. Holding can make sense if you're receiving strong royalties from active wells or new drilling is imminent. We're happy to talk through your specific situation with no obligation — and we'll give you an honest read either way.
-
We look at where your minerals are located, whether they're leased or held by production, current and historical production from wells on or near your property, the operators active in the area, and recent permitting and drilling activity. When we make an offer, we'll explain the reasoning behind the number.
-
Mineral rights are ownership of the oil and gas beneath the land — including the right to lease and collect bonus payments. A royalty interest is the right to a share of production revenue. Many owners have both. We purchase both, and we can help you figure out exactly what you own.
-
A pooling notice means an operator plans to drill a well in your section and is asking the Commission to combine ("pool") all the mineral interests so drilling can proceed. You'll typically be given options — lease terms or participation. It also means your minerals may be more valuable right now. If you'd like, send us your notice and we'll explain your options in plain English, free of charge.
-
No. We pay for all title work, document preparation, recording fees, and closing costs. There are no commissions or hidden charges. The offer amount is what you receive.
-
From signed agreement to payment is typically 10-30 days, depending on how quickly title work can be completed in your county. We'll keep you updated at every step.
-
We buy interests of all sizes. Small fractional interests — especially inherited ones — are often more hassle than they're worth to manage, and we're glad to make offers on them.
